Otherworld Candles are creators of quality hand poured candles made from 100% organic beeswax sourced locally right here in the Meander Valley, Tasmania.
Beeswax is ideal for candles: aside from being naturally scented with a delicious honey fragrance, beeswax is also clean burning (having no smoky flame), has a high melt point (meaning it burns much longer than ordinary candles), and is a natural air purifier (making it great for those with asthma). As a by-product of honey, beeswax is a sustainable product and has been used to make candles for generations.
Our beeswax candles are coloured using Dye Chips, which are made from Natural Vegetable dyes, Paraffin and Stearic Acid (the latter is a hardening agent). The amount of dye required varies from colour to colour. Black and Purple for example require much more dye than orange or green. On average there are about 2 grams of dye in 500g of wax. We are in the process of searching out Natural Dyes made without paraffin, and hope to be able to bring this to you soon.
*Note – our yellow beeswax candles are pure beeswax – no colour added! :)
